GreenRoute
A demo logistics interface that translates real-time delivery data into better next-step decisions for dispatchers — which van, which order, which route.
Overview
Dispatch decisions, grounded in live data.
GreenRoute simulates a small city delivery fleet and gives a dispatcher one screen that matters: live vehicle positions, pending orders, and a ranked list of suggested next moves. Every suggestion shows the numbers behind it — distance, load, and promised window.
A Node.js service streams simulated telemetry over WebSockets while Chart.js dashboards track on-time performance through the day. The whole demo deploys as containers on AWS, so it behaves like the real systems it imitates.
Approach
How the demo was engineered.
- 1Started with the dispatcher. Sketched the dispatch desk on paper first and cut every panel that didn't help answer “what should I do in the next ten minutes?”.
- 2Made the data feel real. Built a telemetry simulator with traffic noise, late orders, and vehicle breakdowns — a demo that never surprises teaches nothing.
- 3Suggestions, not autopilot. The ranking engine proposes moves but the human confirms them, and every confirmation feeds back into the scoring.
- 4Deployed like production. Containerised services on AWS with health checks and log aggregation, so the demo survives being shown live.
